Calling All Young Sailors: Connacht / Ulster Provincial Schools Team Racing Championship Sets Sail at Galway City Sailing Club!

Attention aspiring skippers and salty school crews! The Connacht / Ulster Provincial Schools Team Racing Championship is casting off for another year, and Galway City Sailing Club is excited to be the official host.

Calling all schools from Connacht and Ulster! Are you ready to test your skills against the best young sailors in the region? This is your chance to compete in a thrilling team racing event hosted by Galway City Sailing Club and the Irish Schools Team Racing Association (I.S.T.R.A.).

Sharpen Your Teamwork and Sailing Skills

This is an action-packed competition designed to challenge your sailing skills and teamwork. Teams of six sailors, all under 19 years old (as of June 4th, 2024), will race in double-handed Firefly dinghies provided by the organizers.

Places are Limited: Register Now!

Don’t miss out on this exciting event! Places are limited to the first 14 teams to register. The entry fee is €250 per team, with a €500 damage deposit (refer to Notice of Race Section 14 for details). The deadline to register is April 19th, 2024, so gather your crew and secure your spot today!

Connacht / Ulster Provincial Schools Team Racing Championship Schedule

Saturday, April 20th

  • 08:00 – 08:50: Registration (Galway City Sailing Club Centre)
  • 09:27: First Race Start (Details of pre-race briefing in Sailing Instructions)
  • Throughout the Day: Round robin races, followed by potential knockout stage (depending on time)
  • No Later Than 17:00: Racing Concludes
  • After Racing: Prize Giving Ceremony
