Preparing for the 2026 Sailing Season
Preparing for the 2026 Sailing Season: A Message from the Safety Officer
With the 2026 sailing season fast approaching, it is time to shake off the winter rust and ensure we are fully prepared for a safe and successful year on the water.
Safety remains our top priority. As we return to the bay after the long break, we ask all members to take a moment to re-familiarise themselves with our club procedures.
Key Resources
You can review our safety guidelines through the following channels:
- Online: Visit our Child Safeguarding and Safety page to view the latest digital documents.
- In-Person: The full Safety Statement is available in the clubhouse training room, located within the RED FOLDER.
Safety Briefings & Member Duties
To ensure everyone is up to speed, we will be hosting a Safety Briefing session in the dinghy pen shortly. Keep an eye out for the specific date and time.
As a reminder, our weekly Saturday and Wednesday sessions rely entirely on member participation. In addition to membership fees, all members are required to volunteer for Safety Boat Duty for at least a few sessions during 2026.
- The Rota: This will be announced soon. Please check your assigned dates immediately and add them to your calendar.
- Swaps: If you are unable to make your assigned slot, please reach out to fellow members to arrange a swap.
Exciting Fleet News
We are delighted to announce that we have added a brand-new RIB to our fleet for safety boat duties! This addition will be a fantastic asset for the club as we support our sailors throughout the season.
We look forward to seeing everyone back out on Galway Bay very soon.
