Two teams from the new Galway Sailsports Club which is based in the Harbour Enterprise Park took part recently in the Regional competition of the Yachtsman Euromarine Rib Challenge organised by the ISA.
The competition consists of a series of tests of boat handling skills on the water, and theory and practical tests on land. Clifden Boat Club hosted the west regional competition and a brisk wind gave the teams a real test.
Both Galway Sailsports Club teams were successful in getting through to the national championships when 12 teams from across the country will compete at the National Finals in the National Yacht Club, Dun Laoghaire on Oct 22nd. The overall prize is a new RIB for the winning club!
So, well done Conor Greaney, Eoin O’Toole and Daragh O’Toole with team captain Ciaran Oliver, and Fionn Delahunty, Ciaran Jordan and Eamonn Murphy with team captain Bartley Carrick – you did us proud and we wish you well in the final..
