Hello Everybody,
We continue to meet on Saturday mornings at 11am and the hardy ones go sailing if the weather permits. We will need to organise the safety boat cover better so if you are a proficient helm or would be prepared to act as crew/helper please let Ciaran Oliver know at ciaranoliver@gmail.com or text 087 2807028 so that we can draw up a rota.
Next Saturday December 17th we will have a get together in the Harbour Hotel bar area from 3pm. Everybody is welcome to join us to celebrate the successful beginning of the club. The hotel will provide Christmassy finger food and a glass of mulled wine for €8.50 – I suggest that we just have a donation box for contributions. It would be useful for the hotel if we get an idea of numbers so please text to 086 6670180 (Nancy) or email roenancy9@gmail.com by Wednesday if you know you can come, and if you don’t know yet please do come along anyway – the more the merrier, and you don’t have to be a member.
The comittee are continuing to explore with the Harbour Company the possibility of having a fenced dinghy park next to the bus depot which will cut out the long haul to the beach.
The youngsters gave us a huge boost by winning the RIB Challenge and so providing the club with a safety boat, this allows us to concentrate now on actively pursuing getting a number of boats for the children and teens to get sailing in. We are hoping to get some sponsorship in return for advertising on the sails and boats*, but we will also need funds by way of membership fees. I realise that some of you generously paid your fees last summer to support the beginnings of the club but did not get to go sailing – thank you! without you we could not have got the club started. I would ask that you continue to support our efforts and that everybody pays their fees for next year as soon as possible so that we can start the new sailing season well equipped with dinghies. The form for renewal of membership for 2012 will be up on the website very shortly or available from committee members.
