Junior Sailing Course (4) – Summer 2025
Dates: Monday 07 July– Friday 11 July
Time: 9:30am to 4:30pm daily
Location: Galway City Sailing Club
Ages: 8 to 18 years
Accreditation: Irish Sailing Certified – from Beginner (Taste of Sailing) to Start Racing (depending on experience)
Junior Sailing Course Overview
This Irish Sailing-accredited course is open to junior sailors aged 8–18. Whether you’re just starting out or ready to race, instruction is tailored to your experience level.
Weekly Games, Fun & Extras!
To celebrate a fantastic week on the water, we’ll wrap things up with a Cake Day on Friday!
It’s a great chance to enjoy the sunshine, make memories and mark your sailing achievements with your new crew.
End of Programme Party – Friday 8 August
To celebrate the end of our Junior Summer Sailing Programme, we’ll be hosting a BBQ Party and Prize Giving on Friday 8 August. It’s a great chance for all our summer course participants to catch up, share stories from the water, make new friends and round off the season with some well-earned fun and recognition.
Boats Used
- Junior Sailing (8–12 yrs): Optibats
- Youth Sailing (13–18 yrs): Laser Pico & Topper Argo
What to Bring
- Wetsuit and wet shoes
- Sunscreen and warm layers (fleece, hat)
- Youths (13–18): Please bring your own buoyancy aid if possible
- Buoyancy aids are provided for juniors (8–12)
Facilities
Training Room, Changing and toilet facilities are available in the dinghy park.
Registration & Certification
Participants must register (free) on Irish Sailing’s Checklick platform to track progress and receive certification.
Places
- Limited to 18 participants
- Allocated on a first-come, first-served basis
Sailing Course Fees
- €160 for members
- €190 for non-members
You can become a Junior Member for just €75 per year. Family Membership is also available for €230.

Weather Contingency
If sailing is not possible due to weather, shore-based activities will be provided where feasible. In the unlikely event that no alternative is possible, a partial refund will be offered.

Members, Guests and course participants grant the club / organisers the absolute right to use the images resulting from photography or video at the activity mentioned above. This includes any reproductions or adaptations of the images for general publicity, social media and club website purposes.
Liability
ISA/RYA Instructors, ISA/RYA senior instructors or ISA/RYA coaches do not accept responsibility for any loss, damage or injury suffered by persons and/or their property arising out of or during the course of their activities whilst training and/or coaching and/or instructing unless such injury loss or damage was caused by, or resulted from negligence or deliberate act.
