Introduction to Sailing for Adult Beginners
Start your sailing journey this spring!
Course begins: Saturday, 12th April 2025
Location: Galway City Sailing Club – Meet at Dinghy Park (See contact page for map)
This hands-on, practical course is perfect for adults with no prior sailing experience. Under the guidance of a Senior Sailing Instructor, you’ll learn essential sailing techniques, manoeuvres, and skills to confidently handle a dinghy in light to moderate wind conditions.
Course Details
✅ Duration: 12 hours over 4 Saturdays
✅ Schedule: 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM
✅ Dates: April 12th, 19th, 26th & May 3rd (Weather-dependent – reschedules may occur in May if needed)
✅ Max Participants: 15 learners

Training Boat: Laser Pico – a safe, award-winning dinghy used in training centres worldwide.
Sailing Area: Sheltered waters between Renmore Point, Hare Island & Mutton Island, with a safety crew on standby.
What You’ll Need to Bring
- Wetsuit
- Wet boots or old runners
- An old rain jacket
- Woolly hat
- Swim gear & towel
- Sunblock
- A positive attitude & a sense of adventure!
